2013 Ford Shelby GT500 with 620 horsepower
The horsepower wars are only beginning. Ford is trying to best Chevy with it's 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 by giving it around 620 horsepower to make sure that Ford stays on top. Not only do they want this Mustang to stay on top in horsepower but also 0-60, drag, and track. They are planning on a 5.8L Supercharged V8 to deliver the more than 600 horsepower and light up the quarter mile in 12 seconds flat.
We encourage Ford to produce the highest numbers possible, but to also reduce weight and modify gearing so it can keep up in longer races than quarter miles. Why have Ford Mustangs gotten so heavy?
We'll watch the 2013 Shelby GT500 and announce if Ford will up the power levels even more by offer more power. 620 is a good base... we'll wait to see what the aftermarket introduces to push that number over 700.
2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302S Race Car Video
Ford is on a roll with their 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302. They have just released an all-race 302S which is designed to be a dedicated race car.
Ford is preparing to release this car at the second quarter of 2011 and they made a video of this 302S being tested at Homestead-Miami Spweedway. Ford spent two days testing this car along with various race only features so it can be competitive in the up coming season.
The video speaks for itself, check it out.
2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 – America’s M3?

Ford has really created a Mustang we can be proud of when it redid the Mustang for 2011, bringing back the 5.0 and making suspension tweaks that really brought the car to life. For 2012, Ford is bringing it even stronger with the release of their 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 which is my favorite Mustang to date. Infact, this car is so refined and so good, this track ready version is built and designed to beat a BMW M3 around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Before we get to the performance of this car, I wanted to share my lack of enthusiast for the stock gauge cluster. C'mon Ford, I understand the retro look, but these gauges are simply horrible. They look cheap and outdated, and along with that steering wheel only take away from the car.

Besides that, the interior features comfortable seats, and good support. However, the true shine of this car is what Ford did under the hood. 444 horsepower, 7500 RPM (stable to 8400 rpm), 3.73 gears and a 5.0L V8 powerplant that a whole list of race spec parts that are a collection of forged or aluminum pieces that NASA would be proud of.

Not only is the engine pretty, but it delivers on reliability. Ford brought the first 10 Boss 302 engines to Multimatic Motorsports, and they used the engines in a whole season without one hardware failure. M3, where you at?
Along with the awesome exhaust note comes an exhaust that is designed to flow. A quad exhaust with two exhaust pipes exiting out of the back and two more exiting right before the rear wheels. 14" brembo brakes and 19" wheels round out the package offering.
Can't leave you without a sound clip and a video. Maybe this video will make you want a 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 in your driveway...
